Code of Ethics

Kindness- I will go out of my way to show kindness to those I work for and with, such as remembering birthdays and having meaningful conversations. My beliefs as a Chrisitan inspire me to serve others.
Positivity- When I show up to work I will do my best to be positive in that environment. I will show up to work with a smile and optimistic attitude. As a person surrounded by positive mentors I wish to share that feeling of optimism.
Honesty- I will be transparent at work with what I have and haven’t accomplished that day. Also I will be forthright with credit and give it to those that deserve it. My parents taught me to be honest in all your dealings, so I do my best to follow that counsel.
Loyalty- My word will be my bond with whatever contract I sign and I will meet whatever deadline I promise to meet. The company I work for can expect my attention to be solely on them and not looking at other workplaces. I learned loyalty from my parents that you stay with those that extend a helping hand.
Diligence- I will be responsible with the workload I am given and complete the tasks I’m given citing no excuses. Deadline extensions should not be expected from me. I came to understand diligence through my days as a Boy Scout receiving the rank of Eagle.
Reliable- I am willing to come into work at a moment's notice if that is what my employer needs. It doesn't matter if it is a holiday or my day off. If my employer calls, I will be there. My stepfather taught me about what it means to be reliable through his example.
Helpful- When I come into work I will be more than happy to assist any colleagues in their tasks. My time in church service showed me that helping others can literally change lives for the better.
Conclusion
My personal code of ethics will ultimately dictate how my career and legacy will be. If I truly live by this code of ethics the world of journalism will gain some much needed integrity. I’ll have shared some goodness and light, in a world that only seems to value selfishness and disagreement. I can be a force for good and honesty, being someone my family can be proud of.
